Harrisburg staffing service proprietors accused of tax evasion
Federal authorities said Friday they have obtained a grand jury indictment accusing three men of conspiring to avoid more than $1 million in federal taxes.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced the charges against Vanny Son, 33, Son Thach, 55, and Hung Danh, 54, all of Harrisburg.
According to a news release, the three allegedly “participated in a tax scheme that resulted in over $1 million in losses” to the Internal Revenue Service.
Authorities said Son and Thach were arrested and released on bail and that Danh remains free and is considered a fugitive.
The three allegedly operated five employee leasing businesses between 2006 and 2012, paying employees more than $7 million in cash while failing to withhold federal income, Social Security and Medicare taxes.
Authorities said their businesses were called Vanny and Son Services, Industrial Labor Services, Advance Labor Services, HD Staffing and TD Staffing.
They are charged with conspiracy, tax evasion and filing false tax returns, according to a news release.
