Tunisia Joins Beps Project, Oecd Action Plan for Youth
Tunis — Tunisia and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) signed, on Tuesday in Tunis, an agreement under which Tunisia will join the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) project and the OECD Action Plan for Youth.
Launched in July 2013 by OECD, the BEPS project produced its first set of recommendations on September 16, 2014.
They include reports containing draft final recommendations addressing four major topics: hybrid mismatch arrangements, tax treaty abuse, transfer pricing documentation and transfer pricing methodologies for intangibles.
The OECD intends to finalise those recommendations in 2015 in conjunction with completing related recommendations still in process.
The OECD Action Plan for Youth, launched in June 2013, aims to offer young people a better start in working life.
It also aims to speed up the efforts exerted to reduce the high unemployment rate among youths and boost the educational systems to better prepare them to the labour world.
After the signature of this agreement and his talk with Prime Minister Habib Essid, Angel Gurria, OECD Secretary-General commended the signing of this agreement which comes to energise partnership between Tunisia and OECD, according to him.
He said Tunisia will also become a member of the OECD Development Centre which aims to assist decision-makers to find political solutions to stimulate growth and improve living conditions in all countries, especially developing ones.
Angel Gurria, who is visiting Tunisia until March 13, said he had also presented to the Prime Minister OECD draft reports on open governance and the Global Value Chains (GVCs).
