Oman, Portugal sign double taxation avoidance pact
The convention for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal yesterday between the Government of Oman and the Government of Portugal, reports the Oman Observer.
The convention was signed on behalf of the Sultanate’s Government by Shaikh Humaid bin Ali al Ma’ani, Sultanate’s non-resident ambassador to Portugal, while it was signed from the Portuguese side by Paulo Nuncio, Secretary of State for Tax Affairs.
Al Ma’ani said that the bilateral convention aims at finding the appropriate legislative and legal atmosphere for enhancing the economic, trade and investment relations between the Sultanate and Portugal and increasing rates of trade exchange between the two countries. The convention’s signing ceremony was attended by a number of officials at the finance and foreign ministries of both countries.
