Treaty developments

Following last month’s report that the Mauritius/South Africa double tax treaty had been ratified in Mauritius, the treaty has now come into force on 28 May 2015.

The new Hong Kong/South Africa double tax treaty, which was signed last year, has been ratified in Hong Kong on 3 July 2015. It still has to be ratified in South Africa before coming into force.

New legislation

SARS published on 5 June 2015 the first batch of the draft Taxation Laws Amendment Bill 2015. The full bill is due to be released in the first half of July, which should include the proposed taxation law amendments following the Budget Speech in February 2015.
