180 Participants From 47 Countries Attend CATA Confab In Melaka From Tomorrow
MELAKA: Some 180 participants from 47 countries will attend the five-day 36th annual Technical Conference of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA) here from tomorrow.
The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) said among the countries taking part in the conference are Australia, South Africa, Brunei, India, New Zealand, Canada, Pakistan, Singapore, United Kingdom and Malaysia.
“CATA’s main ojective is to set up a forum to exchange experiences on tax administration, in addition to discussing and formulating selected topics related to taxation issues while enhancing the quality of efficiency, expertise and effectiveness of tax administration.
“Among the topics to be discussed are Abuse of Treaties in Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS); and Governance and Integrity in Tax Administration,” said IRB in a statement here today.
CATA is an international taxation organisation, comprising tax administrators from 47 countries of the Commonwealth. Malaysia is given the honour of being the organiser of the CATA conference this year after hosting it in 1987 and 2003.
