Jordan, UAE hold talks on preventing double taxation
Amman, Nov. 17 (Petra)– Jordan and the United Arab Emirates held a fifth round of trade talks Tuesday here with the aim of inking an Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement (DTAA).
The agreement helps the taxpayer to get relief from double taxation on the same income.
Director general of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Bashar Nasser, said Jordan is working to promote further economic and tax cooperation with “brotherly and friendly countries”.
Through the agreement, Nasser said, Jordan seeks to enhance the flow of capital and promote investment and trade exchange between the two countries.
Hamed Abdulqader, an Economic Expert at the Emirati Finance Ministry who headed the UAE delegation, said the Gulf Arab country looked forward to boosting joint and fruitful cooperation at all levels, at the top of which is increasing commercial activities.
He also hoped this round of discussions would solve outstanding matters from the previous talks and reach a final deal on prevention and avoidance of double taxation between the two countries.
Jordan has signed 33 DTAA agreements with many countries and international organizations and bodies, which are all valid, in addition to other accords under discussion.
