UK Parliamentary Group Seeking Views On BEPS Project
The UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Responsible Tax will on November 23 launch a public consultation on the impact of the OECD’s base erosion and profit shifting on the tax rules in place in the UK.
Led by Margaret Hodge, the former Chair of the UK’s Public Accounts Committee, the APPG on Responsible Tax was established on September 14, 2015, with a view to building and maintaining a sustainable and transparent tax system, both in the UK and internationally.
Currently, the Group is seeking stakeholders’ views on one or more of the following:
- The effectiveness of the OECD’s current BEPS proposals in responding to the globalization of businesses, the growth of the digital economy, and other challenges;
- The impact of these proposals on the UK, the EU, and other developed and developing economies;
- The role of the UK Government and other stakeholders in contributing to, supporting, and implementing the OECD’s BEPS proposals;
- How existing and proposed tax changes in the UK fit with the OECD’s proposals; and
- Possible future responses to BEPS.
The consultation will close on December 22, 2015.
