Expat Savings Rates – November 18, 2015
Expats savers will have some fixed feelings at the changes in interest rates on offshore fixed and instant access accounts.
Conister Bank has notched up a couple of rate increases on fixed rate accounts – the three year fix rising 0.5% to 2.30% and the one year fix up 0.10% to 1.80%.
Newcastle Building Society has gone the other way, taking both one year and two year fixes down 0.5%, while Leeds Building Society followed suit with a one year fix as well.
However, the Leeds has introduced two new offshore instant access accounts – at 1% for a deposit of £1 and 1.35% for a minimum £50,000 on deposit, although the account can be opened with £10,000.
These lists cover most major providers but are not exhaustive. Account rates and minimum deposits are likely to change or withdrawn at short notice. Some minimum deposits are ‘open with’ amounts and are scaled up to the headline rates with a bonus or increased deposit amount.
