Netherlands to appeal EU tax avoidance fine on Starbucks
The Dutch government said Friday it will appeal an EU ruling that the Netherlands gave Starbucks an illegal tax break and ordered the coffee giant to pay some 30 million euros ($34 million).
“The government is of the opinion that the Commission does not convincingly demonstrate that the tax authority deviated from the statutory provisions,” Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem said in a statement. “It follows that there is no state aid involved.”
