Anastasiades to sign deals with Kiev
Cyprus will sign agreements with Ukraine on Friday, as President Nicos Anastasiades visits Ukraine to make deals on bilateral issues such as double taxation, higher education, energy, and other areas of cooperation.
Anastasiades is on an official visit to Ukraine and will meet on Friday with the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. After a formal welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Kiev, Anastasiades and Poroshenko will have a private meeting and then delegations from the two countries will have extended talks.
The two countries will sign a number of bilateral agreements and protocols, such as a Protocol on the Agreement of Avoidance of Double Taxation, a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation between the State Archives of the two countries, a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation on Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Performance as well as an Agreement of Cooperation on Higher Education.
The President will also address a forum organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine in cooperation with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In the afternoon Anastasiades will meet with Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine`s national parliament, Volodymyr Groysman.
The President is accompanied by his spouse, the Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, the Deputy Government Spokesman Victoras Papadopoulos, and other officials.
