Denmark Establishes Tax Treaty Task Force
Danish Tax Minister Karsten Lauritzen has created a new government-industry task force that will support the Government to broaden and improve Denmark’s network of double tax agreements.
According to a Tax Ministry statement, the task force will enable the Government to listen to the opinions of businesses when deciding on new tax treaty partners and the terms of new agreements. The aim is to help Danish firms compete more effectively in foreign markets.
“Double taxation agreements are of great value to Danish companies operating abroad because they give companies more secure fiscal terms, and [create a predictable framework] on corporate tax issues in the countries where they operate,” the Tax Ministry said.
The task force will include representatives from the tax and foreign affairs ministries, in addition to members of the Confederation of Danish Industry and the Danish Shipowners’ Association. It will be chaired by the permanent secretary of the Danish Tax Ministry and meet once every quarter.
Denmark currently has 75 double tax treaties.
