Italy Says Google To Pay EUR306m To Settle Tax Disputes
Days after it emerged that Italian tax agencies were pursuing online retail giant Amazon for taxes worth EUR130m (USD142m), it was revealed that Google will pay a EUR306m (USD335m) tax settlement.
The payment relates to the tax periods between 2009 and 2015 and to an old dispute concerning tax years between 2002 and 2005.
In a statement welcoming the settlement, the Italian federal tax authority said talks would continue with the search giant with a view to reaching an agreement on the “correct taxation” of its affairs in Italy.
