VISA-FREE DESTINATIONS ON LUXEMBOURG PASSPORT, 2019
Luxembourg and Spain passports placed 5th in a global study of visa-free travel.
The annual “Henley Passport Index”, published on 8 January 2019, is a “ranking of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.”
The index is published by Henley & Partners, an immigration advisory firm for investors, using data from International Air Transport Association and its own research.
Holders of a Luxembourg or Spanish passport can enter 186 jurisdictions visa-free, Henley & Partners said.
The three most powerful passports were Asian: Japan (190 countries and territories) and Singapore and South Korea (both 189). The rest of the top 10 were European, North American and Antipodean passports.
At the bottom of the table were the passports of poorer countries in Africa, the middle east and south Asia, including Eritrea (visa-free entry to only 38 jurisdictions), Yemen (37), Pakistan (33), Somalia and Syria (32), and Afghanistan and Iraq (30).
