European Commission Official Joins U.N. and OECD Representatives as Keynote Speaker at Bloomberg BNA and Baker & McKenzie Global Transfer Pricing Conference in Paris
ARLINGTON, Virginia, March 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Bloomberg BNA today announced an addition to its lineup of keynote speakers for the Global Transfer Pricing Conference: Paris, held in conjunction with Baker & McKenzie, on March 30-31 immediately after the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Global Forum on Transfer Pricing. The third annual event brings together officials from the OECD and key OECD countries, along with leading transfer pricing experts, to offer some of the earliest clarification of the policies and proposals to emerge from the OECD Forum. The conference takes place at the Westin Vendome and registration is available here.
Joining the roster of keynote speakers is Heinz Zourek, Director General of the European Commission’s (EC) Taxation and Customs Union. In the wake of major changes, the role of the EC in transfer pricing and international tax developments is critical due to its involvement in state aid investigations and transfer pricing, common consolidated corporate tax base, and its Joint Transfer Pricing Forum. Other keynote speakers at the conference are Pascal Saint-Amans, Director of the OECD’s Centre for Tax Policy and Administration and Michael Lennard, Chief of International Tax Cooperation and Trade in the United Nations Financing for Development Office.
“The role of the EC in transfer pricing is crucial as the discussion about whether a tax policy—or a ruling or advance pricing agreement—constitutes illegal ‘aid’ from the government, in violation of EU treaties, flared up in 2014 after the EC announced investigations into the tax practices of Ireland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg,” said Molly Moses, Transfer Pricing Editor for Bloomberg BNA Tax & Accounting. “At the conference, practitioners will have the opportunity to get a wealth of insights on the issues from the EC’s perspective directly from keynoter Heinz Zourek.”
The conference, held in association with the Tax Management Education Institute, offers the industry’s essential thinking and analysis and has become a must-attend event for the world’s leading multinationals to get the insights on the regulatory changes underway and the political and economic forces shaping them. Taking place concurrently with the Global Transfer Pricing Conference is the Bloomberg BNA Transfer Pricing Primer, a practical and interactive two-day course with extended workshop sessions that examine solutions to transfer pricing issues facing multinationals. Registration for the Transfer Pricing Conference is available here.
