Gambia: MPs ratify tax avoidance accords with Qatar, Turkey
The bill was tabled before lawmakers at the legislative chambers in Banjul on Tuesday, by the Finance and Economic Affairs Minister, Abdou Kolley.
The agreement being unanimously ratified by parliamentarians according to Minister Kolley, is aimed at promoting business and investment deals between the three nations in a bid to enhance and maximize economic growth in Gambia.
The Majority leader and member for Serrekunda East, Fabakary Tombong Jatta, described the bill as necessary, timely and beneficial to Gambia’s quest for economic prosperity.
He said the agreements will foster economic corporations between the three countries.
Other parliamentarians also hailed the agreement, while calling for a proper tax management system, saying it is the economic base of the country.
