Uzbekistan, Belgium to exchange tax info
Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov has signed a protocol to make amendments to Uzbek-Belgian convention on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion on income and capital.
Uzbek president’s decree “On approving the international agreement” published in the local media July 13, approves the amendments to the convention of 1996 in accordance with the additional protocol signed in February 2015 in Brussels.
It was earlier reported that the amendments comply with the international standards of tax transparency in information exchange and will allow to increase the effectiveness of tax information exchange in order to counter abuse in tax payments.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on March 10, 1992.
The official visit of Islam Karimov to Belgium in November 1998 and the official visit of the Prime Minister of Belgium Jean-Luc Dehane to Uzbekistan in April 1998 significantly promoted the development of bilateral relations between two countries.
