Identities of Ghanaians in $89m tax-evasion scandal could be out soon
Identities of Ghanaians said to have stashed $89million in a Swiss bank to evade tax could become public, Kweku Baako, Managing editor of New Crusading Guide newspaper has said.
According to the veteran journalist, there has been some contact made with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists who are in possession of details on the tax evasion scandal.
News broke this week that Ghana ranks 106 among 203 countries with the largest dollar amounts in the leaked Swiss files published by the BBC.
No names were released but Kweku Baako believes this is only a matter of time.
“Non-state actors are trying to get something at least concerning Ghana. I would not be surprised if some three and four weeks time…. the Ghanaian connection could be out”, he said on JoyFM’s “Newsfile” Saturday.
UK and Indian governments are said to be looking to obtain names of their nationals and companies involved in the massive tax evasion.
There have been no reports of Government initiating moves to get access to the names.
