Isle of Man signs tax agreement with Swaziland
A Tax Information Exchange Agreement with Swaziland has been signed by the Manx government.
The TIEA was signed in the island by Treasury Minister Eddie Teare MHK and by Senator Martin G. Dlamini, Swaziland’s Minister for Finance, in the African kingdom, and exchanged by post.
Mr Teare said: ‘The signing of this agreement is an important step in building closer relations between Swaziland and the Isle of Man.
‘Swaziland is a member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and this is the fourth agreement the island has signed with a SADC member.
‘The signing of such agreements demonstrates the island’s continuing support of the OECD’s Global Forum commitment to sharing expertise and best practice on tax transparency and information exchange with developing nations.’
The Isle of Man has now signed 42 agreements which meet OECD standards including 10 double taxation agreements and 32 Tax Information Exchange Agreements. Text of the Swaziland agreement can be viewed on Treasury’s Income Tax Division’s website.
