Cabinet approves coop agreements with several countries
KUWAIT, July 13 (KUNA) ¬¬ The cabinet, under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al¬Mubarak Al¬Hamad Al¬Sabah, approved Monday a number of agreements to boost cooperation with several friendly countries.
The endorsed agreements included a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in social insurance with Bahraini government, an agreement for training Kuwaiti physicians in France, a higher education and science cooperation agreement with Cypriot government, a memorandum of understanding for higher education and scientific research cooperation with British and Northern Ireland’s governments, and a memorandum of understanding for environment protection and sustainable development cooperation with the Iranian government.
They also included an agreement for research and training cooperation in the field of science and technology among Arab Asian countries, and an agreement for preventing tax duplication and income tax evasion, an agreement on the application of Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) with the United States.
The cabinet referred the approved agreements to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al¬Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah for sending them to the National Assembly for deliberation and ratification.
At the advent of the meeting, the cabinet discussed the content of His Highness the Amir’s speech on the occasion of the last ten days of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
The cabinet minister expressed great admiration and appreciation of His Highness the Amir speech. They also vowed to do all in power to materialize His Highness the Amir’s instructions.
The cabinet was briefed about a letter sent from the Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al¬Sisi to His Highness the Amir. The letter highlighted the special relations between Egypt and Kuwait and included an official invitation to His Highness the Amir to attend the opening ceremony of the new Suez Canal, scheduled August 6th.
On the occasion of the approaching Eid Al¬Fitr, the cabinet congratulated His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al¬Ahmad Al¬Jaber Al¬Sabab and Kuwaiti people on the happy feast.
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al¬Khaled Al¬Hamad Al¬Sabah made a presentation before the cabinet about the role of the different state bodies and the whole society in countering extremism and terrorism.
The cabinet reviewed that the latest political development and the region and the whole world.
It extended condolences to the Saudi royal family and people on the demise of former foreign minister prince Saud Al¬Faisal.
The cabinet also strongly condemned the terror attack which targeted the Italian consulate in Cairo recently. It voiced support to the Egyptian government in its fight against terrorism.
