Protocol signed between India and Austria to curb tax evasion
For avoiding double taxation and for the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income, India and Austria signed a protocol, amending the existing convention between the two countries.
On behalf of India, the protocol was signed by the Chairman of CBDT, Shri Sushil Chandra, and on behalf of Austria the protocol was signed by Mr George Zehetner, Charge d’ Affaires, Embassy of Austria.
The protocol will help curb tax evasion and tax avoidance between the two countries and will broaden the scope of the existing framework of exchange of tax related information.
The protocol will also enable mutual assistance in collection of taxes.
