Maldives concludes first deliberations on DTAA with Singapore

Maldives and Singapore have concluded the first set of deliberations on signing a Double Tax Avoidance Agreement (DTAA).
Director General of Taxation Hassan Zareer represented Maldives in the three-day session that went from the 9th to the 12th July. The Director General of Taxation is the chief of Maldives’ tax authority, the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority.
Chia-Tern Huey Min, the Deputy Commissioner of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, headed a delegation of officials representing the state of Singapore.
Double taxation occurs in international trade when the same income is taxed in two different countries, at both the corporate level and personal level.
