Montenegro and Spain discuss double taxation agreement
Montenegro held the first round of talks with the Kingdom of Spain for the conclusion of an avoidance of double taxation agreement and prevention of income tax. Montenegrin delegation was led by Mitar Bajčeta, chief of the Directorate of Customs System and Customs Policy in the Ministry of Finance, and the delegation of Spain, Mrs. Robert Poza Cid, Deputy Director General of International Taxation at the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration.
During negotiations, agreement was reached on most of the matters governed by the treaty. Both delegations expressed their willingness for it to come to the conclusion of the contract, which would provide for the elimination of double taxation on income of residents of both Contracting States, the removal of tax barriers to foreign investment, application of the principle of equal tax treatment natural and legal persons of the Contracting States, the promotion of scientific, cultural and sports cooperation and political relations between the Contracting States.
